INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Individual therapy

One-on-one work on what's happening in your life right now — with a clinician trained in the specific thing you're carrying.

Who this is for

Adults working through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or a stretch of life that stopped making sense.

People who are functioning — working, parenting, holding it together — and tired of what it costs them.

Older adults navigating retirement, health changes, caregiving, or loss.

Adults who've been in therapy before and want to try again with a different approach or a different fit.

What we work on

How it works

Sessions run 50 minutes, usually weekly to start. Many people meet weekly for the first several sessions while a focus takes shape, then move to every other week as things settle. Your therapist will check in on cadence with you as you go — it isn't set in stone at intake.

Approaches we use here

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Identifying the thought patterns driving how you feel and act, and practicing different responses.

EMDR

For trauma. Uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain file a memory as past rather than present.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Learning to hold difficult thoughts differently and act according to what you value.

New Journey Counseling Center provides compassionate, practical therapy for individuals, couples, and families across Maryland.
